रुक नहीं सकता…!
मैं यूँ ही बस इतिहास के पन्ने खंगाल रहा था
एक बात मेरे दृष्टिकोण को भेद गयी
जब विवेक साल रहा था…

तुम भी सुनो:

ऐ नादाँ!
जिससे तू अपना समझ कर
मन के घाव बाँट रहा था….
दिल के राज गहरे,
उस गहरे दोस्त के सामने हाँक रहा रहा था….
वो तेरी कमज़ोरियों को….
खुद के फायदे के लिए छांट रहा था…

वो फिक्रमंद था कि जल्द…
तेरी दुखती रग का पता चल जाए…
फिर मौका मिलते ही तुझे…
आस्तीन का सांप बन वो डंस जाए…
बात यहीं पे गर खत्म हो जाती तो ठीक था मगर….
मेरे रणबांकुरे!
तेरा दोस्त..
वो हमराज…
तेरे दुश्मनों से भी रख इत्तेफाक रहा था…

कौन सा तीर तेरी नाभि को बेध डालेगा….
निशाना साध रहा था…
जोखिम तेरी जान का…
वो जयचंद!
पल पल हर पल वो तुझे आंक रहा था

किसी ने ठीक ही कहा है:

‘हम अपने किरदार से भोले, सीधे और सच्चे थे
कुछ दोस्तों से मगर कट्टर दुश्मन कहीं अच्छे थे’

मैं समय हूँ…
लौट कर आता नहीं, पर देखता सब कुछ हूँ

He wore concern like perfume,
Eager to sniff out the nerves that hurt you most—

He could strike like a serpent in your sleeve.

If the tale ended there, I’d stop.
But, O brave soul of mine—
That confidant,
That brother-in-arms,
Was shaking hands with your enemies,
Plotting behind curtains of loyalty.

He studied your heart like a blueprint of war,
Aiming arrows at your navel—
Where it would hurt the most.
Yes, the traitor, the hidden Jayachand of your life,

And fed danger its daily dose of you.
