अस्त व्यस्त है, जान त्रस्त

बाढ़ बहे, सब रंग छिन गए

रस्ते खेत, खलिहान समाये

बोई फसल थी, डूब गयी सब
पीना पड़ेगा अब बस पानी

भीग गए सपनों के महल
हर कोने बस पानी पानी
जीवन-नाव डोलती लहरें
सिखा जातीं, कितना पानी
बादल काले, झमक थमी
ना रुका कई दिन पानी
सूरज आ जा, फिर मुस्का
थाम ले अब बरसता पानी

Lost in the flood, hearts are stressed…

Chaos in the heart, the spirit feels pressed

Homes drowned deep, the streets are gone
All I see is water, water on and on

The flood washed away, every shade, every hue
Oh my Lord, what else can we lose?
Grandma’s stories float like boats in the stream
Filling my mind, drowning my dreams
Roads and fields, all swallowed whole
Everywhere I look, water’s in control
We sowed the seeds, but they sank away
Now all we drink is the rain’s decay

The castles of dreams, soaked and torn
Every corner drips from dusk till dawn
Life’s boat sways in a restless tide
Teaching us how small our pride
Black clouds loom, never at rest
Days on days of this water test
Oh sun, return with your warming light
And hold back the rain from the endless night
