बापू ने इज्जत कमाई
छोटी सी दुकान से
नहीं करी केवल कमाई
साख भी खूब बनाई

लोग उन्हें सज्जन शरीफ
मिलनसार और ईमानदार
जैसे नामो से पुकारते थे
हर जरुरत का सामान
दुकान ही से ले जाते थे

बेटे की बहू थी जो उनकी
वो पढ़ी लिखी थी
अपने पैरों पर खड़े होने की
लगन मन में लगी थी

अलग होकर उसने उसी
घर में अलग दुकान चलाई
जनरल स्टोर बापू जैसे
धंधे में रुचि दिखाई

बापू जी की इज्जत थी
बहू जो थी सुंदर बहुत थी
आज भी लोग बापूजी की
बहुत इज्जत करते हैं
मगर सामान सुन्दर बहू की
दुकान से ही खरीदते हैं

बापू और बहू आपस में
तो नहीं बोलते हैं पर
अपनी ब्यूटी और इज़्ज़त की
दुकान रोज़ खोल लेते हैं

इस ज़माने में हर शख्श
बिकाऊ है जजमान
कोई मौन में साख बेचता है,
कोई मुस्कान में सामान

Grandpa earned his respect
