I Found My Peace

Yesterday was no ordinary day—
It was my birthday.
My family stood around me,
their warmth wrapping me in the colours of celebration.

Then—
a woman selling balloons stopped in my path.
Beside her, a little boy,
his face a map of innocence,
his belly bare to the wind.

He stared at me—
wide-eyed, unblinking—
and then…
he smiled.
A smile so small,
and yet, God Himself seemed to hide in the corners of it.

A voice reached my ears:
“Sir… please. Buy something. For luck.”

I had no need for balloons.
Yet in that moment,
I made the cheapest,
most expensive purchase of my life.

For ten rupees—
I bought a child’s smile.

And in the bargain,
I bought the God that lived within it.

A thing no store can sell,
no gold can measure.
A treasure found,
not in a palace,
but on a footpath—
where heaven sometimes sits quietly,
waiting to be noticed.
